MABA 2020 HOT SHOTS COMPETITION – Rules and Scoring

The Hot Shots competition will be broken into two different divisions, using different goal heights and different scoring systems.

Girls Grades 4-8 & Boys Grades 3-8

Players will shoot on the fixed, 10-FT goals on the MMS court. Each player will have 90 seconds to score as many points as they can. Players can shoot from wherever they want on the court. The scoring system will be as follows:

  • Shots from inside the (slightly enlarged) key are worth 1 point
  • Shots from outside the key but inside the 3-point line are worth 2 points
  • Shots from beyond the 3-point line are worth 3 points

Each player will get two attempts to score as many points as possible with a 2.5 minute rest in between attempts. The higher of the two scores will count as their final score for the competition. Once the player has completed their two attempts, they can rejoin the rest of the players cheering on their peers.
